Outreach Ministry Proposals

Here are some of the factors to consider when making an Outreach Ministry proposal. If you'd like to submit a proposal, forward the answers to these questions via email to email bflowers@ctking.com.  You will be contact shortly thereafter to discuss the proposed ministry further.

• Briefly describe the proposed ministry.  Who will the ministry serve?  What are some of the ministries in other parishes or churches that are similar to the one being proposed?
  

• Does this proposed ministry support the Cathedral’s mission to know, love and serve as Jesus does?  If so, how does it do so?
  

• Does this proposed ministry support the Outreach Ministry mission of making Christ truly present to those in need by performing works of mercy?  If so, how does it do so?
  

• What will success look like for this proposed ministry?
  

• How many parishioners are a part of the team forming this ministry?
  

• What funding is required to do this proposed ministry? How will you obtain the funding?
  

• What nonmonetary resources do you need in order to do the ministry’s work?  How will you obtain those resources?
  

• How will you celebrate success and recognize the achievements of the participants?
  

Here at the Cathedral we are blessed to have a number of ministries that reflect the concern of the parish for the needs of others. As Blessed Teresa of Calcutta once said, “God has not called me to be successful; He has called me to be faithful.” When you see a need in our community, please know that our success will be based on our faithfulness to God's mission, His call, and our stewardship of the gifts, talents and charisms God has given us. There are two tools available to help in the process:  Gifts Discernment and Ministry Proposals.

Gifts Discernment & Called & Gifted Workshop

Every lay man and woman has been called by Christ (in his or her baptism) to a unique mission, and every lay man and woman has been gifted by the Holy Spirit in order to be able to answer that call.

The Church calls these gifts of the Holy Spirit which Christians are given for the sake of others "charisms". Discerning our charisms is an important first step to discerning God's call. These gifts of the Holy Spirit are both clues as to the nature of the mission for which God is preparing us and tools with which to successfully carry out our mission.

The Catherine of Siena Institute is a program of the Western Dominican Province

dedicated to equipping parishes for the formation of lay Catholics for their mission in the world. Those who take the Called & Gifted Workshop have a chance to take the Catholic Spiritual Gifts Inventory, the first gifts inventory designed especially for Catholics. They will also have the chance to begin discerning their charisms. At a Called & Gifted Workshop, you will learn:

• The role of every Catholic and of the local parish in the mission of the Church to the world.
  

• The critical role of charisms in the life and service of other lay Catholics and in the life of the parish or Christian community.
  

• The signs and characteristics of 24 common charisms.
  

• How discerning and using your charisms can change your life and the life of others, your parish, and the world.
